The Poem - ‘ A Roadside Stand’ has 56 lines in total that follow the rhyme scheme of ABAB. In this poem, the poet Robert Frost tried to criticize social differences.
- The poem begins by describing a small roadside stand that is selling fresh fruits. The owner of the stand is a farmer who wants to earn enough money to be content. Yet the city people look past them.
- The City people only blame those village farmers for destroying the natural beauty.
- Robert Frost also strongly criticizes the government for not providing equal opportunities to the people of rural areas. The hardworking village people do not want charity, they want the same opportunities as the city people.
- According to the poet, in the name of equal rights, the political party is leading the people to a lazy life.
- At the end of the poem, the poet also explained his feeling about these injustices. He also talks about his desire to be killed at once so that he can be set free from this pain.
