    XAT 2020 was conducted on January 5, 2020 in online mode between 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. XAT Answer Key was released within a week. Overall, it was a moderately difficult paper. It must be noted that difficulty level is increasing each year.

    • This year, the number of questions increaded from 99 to 100.
    • The paper was divided into 2 parts. Part one had 3 sections (VARC, QA & DI, DM) with negative marking and while part 2 consisted of 1 section (GK) with no negative marking.
    • The paper is out of 100 marks. XAT 2021 paper is also expected to follow the same pattern.

    Around 90,000 students appeared from all over India to take this entrance exam for admission into management couches of XLRI. No calculator was allowed inside the exam hall. Following the pattern of the previous year, there was no question on essay writing on XAT in 2020 as well. Here's a section wise breakup of number of questions in XAT 2020 paper:

    • Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning – 24 questions

    • Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation – 28 questions

    • Decision Making – 21 questions

    • General Knowledge – 25 questions

    Paper analysis of XAT 2020 will help candidates understand the question pattern, level of difficulty that they can expect and the areas in which they must focus. 

    XAT 2020 Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension Analysis:

    • There were 26 questions from Verbal Ability and the difficulty level was a bit higher than 2019. Cutoff can go down due to this.
    • The reading comprehension questions covered a variety of topics such as arts, social issues, and psychology.
    • Poem and para jumbles were of moderate difficulty. MCQ based problems had 5 options for each.
    • Answering 15-17 questions with at least 70% accuracy would ideally have been a good attempt.

    XAT 2020 Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation Analysis:

    • Quantitative ability in 2020 was slightly easier than 2019. Overall difficulty level of the 2020 paper was moderate.
    • A total of 20 questions from QA and 8 from DA.
    • Most QA questions were from chapters such as geometry and algebra.
    • In data interpretation, there were 3 sets with a total of 8 questions.
    • About 4 -5 Data Interpretation and 13 - 15 Quant questions could have been attempted in around 65 - 70 minutes.

    XAT 2020 Decision Making Analysis:

    • Questions of moderate level with no singlets made reading in this section easy.
    • There were sequencing questions which increased the difficulty level of this section, leading to fewer attempts.
    • Mathematical or analytical reasoning questions were missing and 16 - 17 would be a good attempt.

    XAT 2020 General Knowledge Analysis:

    • Level of difficulty in 2020 was similar to that of 2019.
    • There were 25 single statement based questions that came from this section.
    • Questions were mostly from areas like Current Affairs, Moderate History, Economy & Business, Geography, Personality & Awards, Science & Tech.
    • Overall difficulty level of the GK section was moderate and Answering 12 - 14 questions with at 7 - 8 correct answers would ideally have been a good attempt.

    Response sheet is the document containing the responses which you entered at the time of the exam. Candidates can download the response sheet from the official website once it is released by the authorities. 

    Many private institutions and non-authoritative bodies such as blogs, youtube videos, and exam magazines will also release the correct set of answers.     • Click on the answer key link.

    • Enter your login details credentials such as XAT ID and Password.

    • Choose your exam date.

    • After entering the details correctly, click on the “Login” button.

    • The answer key along with all your responses will be displayed on the screen.

    • Download the answer key and take a printout of the same for future use.

    How to Calculate Score Using Answer Key?

    In order to find out if one is eligible for a particular college or not, calculating the score is an important step. The marking pattern which one must be familiar with has been given below:

    • For each correct answer add one mark.

    • For each incorrect answer from part 1 (includes sections of DM, VARC, QA & DI), deduct 0.25 marks.

    • For incorrect answers in part 2 (GK section), no marks will be deducted for wrong answers. 

    • Beyond 8 unresponded questions, 0.5 marks will be deducted for every unattempted question. 

    • Add up all your marks using this pattern. 

    • Convert it to percentile.

    Candidates who think any answer in the key provided by the official website are incorrect or erroneous can challenge the authorities by following these steps given below:

    • Send an email to admis@xlri.ac.in

    • Subject of the email has to be “Objection”

    • Mention your XAT id and full name as mentioned in the admit card 

    • Write your object with proper justification against a particular question.

    • Do not forget to mention the question number in the email
