Top Colleges in Bihar 2026: Fees, Admission, Ranking, Cutoff, Placement.

Ans. Yes. IIT Patna runs a two-year MBA in Generative AI and Product Management, listed by Collegedunia at 5.08 Lakh, as a hybrid programme with live online classes aimed at working professionals. Admission does not use CAT, XAT or GMAT: graduates with 50% marks apply through IIT Patna's Continuing Education Programme and are shortlisted through the institute's own online test, IITP-SAT. No placement figure is published for the programme, and IIT Patna files no NIRF Management report, so its package cell carries a dash.

A campus MBA route also exists through five-year dual degrees entered after Class 12 on a JEE Advanced rank through JoSAA: a BTech or a BS in Economics followed by an MBA from IIM Bodh Gaya, and a BTech in Mechanical Engineering followed by an MBA from a partner management institute. IIT Patna's own placement record, which covers its BTech and MTech students, appears in the engineering block below.

PWC Patna and NOU Nalanda admit to one-year PG diplomas on merit, without any test.
• A cutoff only decides who is shortlisted. IIM Bodh Gaya, the one college here with a published cutoff of 95 CAT, follows it with a written assessment and a personal interview, and CIMP Patna follows the test score with a group discussion and a personal interview before its final merit list.

Ans. UGEAC is the counselling through which BCECEB fills BTech seats at Bihar's state engineering colleges. It is not an examination: for 2026 it ranks candidates on their JEE Main 2026 score, re-ranked among Bihar candidates only, and Class 12 marks serve only as the eligibility gate with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The pool is limited to permanent residents of Bihar, so there is no home-state and other-state split.

The central institutes sit outside UGEAC. IIT Patna admits through JoSAA on a JEE Advanced rank; NIT Patna and IIIT Bhagalpur admit through JoSAA on a JEE Main rank, and only NIT Patna splits its seats between Bihar home-state and other-state quotas. MGCU Motihari admits on CUET-UG.

IGIMS Patna sets its own fee under its own Act: 3.55 Lakh is INR 3,15,000 of tuition plus a one-time INR 40,000. ESIC Medical College Bihta is run by the Employees' State Insurance Corporation and sends only 50 of its 100 seats to UGMAC.

Ans. Admission runs on the NEET UG score through two counselling channels, and BCECEB conducts no separate medical entrance test of its own. Bihar has 30 MBBS colleges with about 4,735 seats: the 29 colleges and 4,610 seats on the National Medical Commission register, plus AIIMS Patna with 125 seats, which sits outside that register. Thirteen are in the government sector with 1,835 seats and 17 are private with 2,900 seats, of which 450 seats belong to five colleges granted permission in September 2026, after the first UGMAC seat matrix was published.

AIIMS Patna sits entirely outside state counselling and fills its seats through the All India Quota. The state quota is reserved for candidates meeting Bihar's residence condition, and its reservation runs in separate SC, ST, Extremely Backward Class, Backward Class and EWS blocks, a Reserved Category Girls block, and a female sub-quota inside every category. A reserved-category candidate from another state competes as unreserved.

The MBBS degree ends with a compulsory twelve-month rotating internship, paid at INR 27,000 a month at the Department of Health colleges on this page, after which most graduates prepare for NEET PG to enter an MD or MS programme. Others take up state government service or posts in the hospitals where they trained.
