Why is the series arrangement not used for domestic circuits?

In a series arrangement of circuits, the voltage is divided. Each series component receives a small voltage so that the amount of current decreases and the device turns hot and does not work properly. Therefore, the series arrangement is not used in domestic circuits.

Series Circuit

  • A series circuit has numerous resistances linked one after the other.
  • This connection is termed an end-to-end connection or a cascade connection. There is a single path for the flow of current.

Properties of a Series Circuit

  • The circuit is a single current pathway.
  • All the components have a similar amount of current running through them.
  • The sum of potential dips across each component is equivalent to the EMF of the source.
