CUET 2027 Syllabus: Preparation Tips
Your preparation strategy depends on which subjects you have selected and how many months remain before the May–June 2027 exam window. Starting from August 2026 gives you approximately nine months. Use the domain-wise tips below to build a structured plan.
Agriculture Preparation
- Start Unit 1 (Genetics & Plant Breeding) early — it carries the highest weightage and involves the most conceptual depth. Use NCERT Class 12 Biology (Genetics chapters) alongside your Agriculture textbook for reinforcement.
- Cover Agrometeorology with emphasis on elements of weather and their effect on crop production. This sub-unit generates consistent questions every year.
- For Unit 3 (Crop Production), memorise cultivation practices for at least 8–10 major crops including their growing season, soil requirements, and major pests.
- Unit 4 (Horticulture) is conceptually lighter. Focus on propagation methods for major fruit plants and post-harvest preservation techniques.
- Solve previous year CUET Agriculture papers and ICAR AIEEA UG papers for practice — the question style and difficulty level are closely matched.
General Aptitude Test (GAT) Preparation
- Spend 15–20 minutes daily on Current Affairs from a reliable news source. This habit compounds over nine months of preparation.
- Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning together contribute roughly half of all GAT questions — prioritise these two areas in your study plan.
- For Numerical Ability, practise Percentage, Ratio, and Time & Work problems first. These appear most frequently in previous year GAT papers.
- Use timed mock tests to build speed. Each GAT question must be answered in an average of 72 seconds.
Language Section Preparation
- Read one editorial article daily from a newspaper to build comprehension speed and vocabulary range.
- Practise grammar error-detection questions daily. Subject-verb agreement, tense consistency, and preposition use are the most common error types in CUET.
- Reading comprehension passages in CUET are moderately dense — practise timed reading to improve your pace before the exam.
Science Domain Subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics)
- Complete NCERT Class 11 and 12 textbooks chapter by chapter before moving to practice guides or MCQ banks.
- Make concise revision notes for formulae in Physics and Chemistry, and diagram-based notes for Biology.
- Begin full-length CUET mock tests from April 2027 to simulate real exam conditions and identify weak chapters early.
Commerce Domain (Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics)
- Accountancy questions are largely numerical — practise journal entries, ledger posting, and final accounts problems from NCERT exercises.
- Economics students must cover both Microeconomics and Macroeconomics equally — CUET draws questions from both parts in roughly equal proportion.
- Business Studies requires concept recall across multiple chapters. Use flowcharts and mnemonics for management functions and organisational principles.

Ans. Based on previous year question trends, the most important chapters are: Genetics & Plant Breeding (Mendel’s laws, methods of breeding), Agrometeorology (elements of weather, climate classification), Crop Production (major crop cultivation, Integrated Pest Management), and Horticulture (fruit propagation, post-harvest technology). Biochemistry — pH, enzymes, carbohydrates — is tested regularly and should not be skipped.
Ques. What books should I follow for CUET Agriculture?
Ans. The best books for CUET Agriculture are: Fundamentals of Agriculture by Arun Katyayan (comprehensive unit-wise coverage), Objective Agriculture by S.R. Kantwa (large MCQ bank), and NCERT Class 11-12 Agriculture textbooks (official syllabus base). For Genetics and Plant Breeding, NCERT Class 12 Biology (Principles of Inheritance chapters) is also very useful.
Ques. Can a Commerce or Arts student appear in CUET Agriculture?
Ans. Yes — there is no stream restriction in CUET. Any student, regardless of their Class 12 stream, can appear in any domain subject. However, the target university may have its own eligibility criteria for specific undergraduate programmes. Check the university’s admission requirements before selecting Agriculture as a CUET subject.
Ques. How should I cover the full CUET 2027 syllabus in time?
Ans. Starting from August 2026 gives you approximately nine months before the exam. Months 1–3: Complete NCERT reading for all chosen domain subjects. Months 4–6: Practise subject-wise MCQs and begin GAT and Language preparation in parallel. Months 7–8: Take full-length CUET mock tests. Month 9: Revise weak areas and solve previous year CUET papers. Maintain a daily 15–20 minute Current Affairs habit throughout for the GAT section.
