CUET 2027 Preparation Strategy
You have over six months before CUET 2027 opens in May. Use this time to build subject depth with NCERT and strengthen aptitude skills for the General Test.
Section I — Language Preparation
- Read English and Hindi newspapers daily to build speed for unseen passage questions.
- Practise three to four unseen passages weekly — cover all three types: factual, literary, and narrative.
- Revise common idioms, synonyms, and antonym pairs from a vocabulary book weekly.
- Students should time every passage attempt — 50 questions in 60 minutes allows just over one minute per question on average.
- Grammar rules alone do not carry the language section — comprehension and vocabulary are the primary scoring areas.
Section II — Domain Subject Preparation
- Complete all NCERT Class 12 chapters for each chosen domain subject before moving to reference books.
- For Science subjects, solve NCERT Exemplar problems after each textbook chapter — they closely mirror CUET MCQ difficulty.
- For Commerce subjects, practise Accountancy numericals daily — partnership and share capital questions appear most frequently.
- For Humanities subjects, build chapter-wise revision notes from NCERT — History and Political Science require factual recall of specific events and policies.
- Students must attempt at least two full previous-year CUET papers per domain subject before the exam.
- Attempt each subject mock under strict 60-minute conditions to build speed and accuracy.
Section III — General Test Preparation
- Follow a monthly current affairs magazine from November 2026 for national and international news coverage.
- Revise static GK — History, Geography, and Science — from a compact GK handbook monthly.
- Practise two to three Data Interpretation sets daily from December 2026 — DI accounts for approximately 20% of General Test marks.
- Logical Reasoning puzzles (Seating Arrangement, Blood Relations, Coding-Decoding) appear consistently — practise 15 minutes daily.
- Numerical Ability is the highest-weightage area in the General Test (~24%) — prioritise Percentage, Ratio, and Time-Work topics from Aggarwal’s Quantitative Aptitude.

Start with NCERT, then use subject-specific guides for mock questions. For the General Test, a dedicated CUET guide and a current affairs source are also needed.
Ques. Where can I download the official CUET 2027 syllabus PDF?
Ans. The official CUET 2027 syllabus PDF will be available at cuet.nta.nic.in after December 2026. NTA publishes separate PDFs for each subject code under the Syllabus or Downloads section. Always download from the official NTA portal — third-party copies may be outdated or incomplete.
Ques. How many subjects can a student choose in CUET UG?
Ans. You can appear in up to three language papers from Section I, up to six domain subject papers from Section II, and the General Test from Section III. The subjects you choose must align with the requirements of the university programme you are applying to — check each university’s CUET subject criteria before registering.
Ques. Which are the most important chapters in CUET Physics?
Ans. Based on the 2026 question pattern, Optics (~14%), Electrostatics (~10%), and Current Electricity (~10%) carry the highest weightage. Semiconductor Devices and Electromagnetic Induction also appear consistently. All chapters are from NCERT Class 12 Physics — do not skip any unit entirely.
Ques. Has the CUET syllabus been revised for 2027?
Ans. No revision has been announced for 2027 as of October 2026. The last major revision was CUET 2026, which dropped 26 subjects and updated topic lists in several domains. Any 2027 changes will be published at cuet.nta.nic.in in December 2026 alongside the official information bulletin.
Ques. What books are best for the CUET General Test?
Ans. For Quantitative and Reasoning sections, use R. S. Aggarwal’s Quantitative Aptitude. For General Knowledge, Lucent’s General Knowledge provides strong static GK coverage. Follow a current affairs magazine from November 2026 for national and international events. Practise DI sets daily to build speed for the data interpretation questions.
Ques. How should I cover the full CUET 2027 syllabus in 6 months?
Ans. Weeks 1–12: complete NCERT reading for all chosen domain subjects (3–4 weeks per subject). Weeks 13–20: solve NCERT Exemplar problems and subject-specific reference books; start General Test preparation in parallel. Week 20 onwards: revise high-weightage chapters and attempt one full mock per week. Final 4 weeks: full-length mock tests, previous-year paper analysis, and targeted revision of weak chapters.
Ques. Is there negative marking in CUET 2027?
Ans. Yes. Based on the 2026 marking scheme, each correct answer earns +5 marks and each incorrect answer deducts 1 mark. Questions left unattempted carry 0 marks. Avoid guessing randomly — a single wrong answer costs you 1 mark and the 5 marks you could have earned elsewhere.
