CUET 2027 Preparation Tips
The CUET 2027 notification is expected in January 2027. You have roughly 9–10 months from now (August 2026) to prepare. Use this window to build a solid NCERT foundation before switching to practice tests — last-minute mock-test-only strategies rarely work for CUET domain subjects.
Science Stream: Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Mathematics
- Complete one full reading of your chosen NCERT Class 12 subject books before December 2026.
- For Physics, pay special attention to Optics, Electrostatics, and Electronic Devices — these units appear consistently across all CUET sessions.
- In Chemistry, prioritise Organic Chemistry units (9–15). Master the reaction mechanism for each functional group transformation, not just the product names.
- For Mathematics, practise Integration and Differential Equations from NCERT exercises — Section A is compulsory, so no core Calculus or Algebra chapter can be skipped.
- In Biology, focus on Genetics (Mendel’s Laws, DNA Replication, Gene Regulation) and Biotechnology — these two units together frequently determine your CUET Biology score.
Commerce Stream: Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics
- For Accountancy, practise Partnership and Company Accounts problems daily from September 2026 onwards. Speed and accuracy in journal entries matter for MCQ-based elimination.
- In Business Studies, make a concise table of all definitions and principles per chapter. CUET tests conceptual clarity, not essay-writing ability.
- For Economics, thoroughly revise National Income accounting methods (Value Added, Income, Expenditure) — these appear in almost every CUET Economics paper.
- Revise the newly included chapters carefully: Financial Markets in Business Studies and Indian Economic Development in Economics are confirmed 2026 additions that carry forward to 2027.
Humanities Stream: History, Political Science
- For History, focus on the significance of each theme rather than memorising dates. CUET History questions are inference-based, not recall-based.
- In Political Science, write a one-paragraph summary of each chapter. Chapters like Globalisation, US Hegemony, and Regional Aspirations appear regularly.
- Read newspaper headlines for 15 minutes daily to connect current events to History and Political Science themes — this helps with both the subject paper and GAT Current Affairs.
General Aptitude Test (GAT)
- Practise at least 20 Logical Reasoning questions daily from September 2026 onwards.
- For Numerical Ability, focus on Percentage, Ratio, and Time-Speed-Distance — these three topics account for roughly 40% of the Numerical section.
- For GK, read a monthly current affairs digest and supplement with a static GK yearbook.
- Take one full-length GAT mock test every two weeks from November 2026 to build exam-day speed and stamina.
Language Test: English / Hindi
- Read editorial sections of national newspapers — they train you for CUET’s literary and factual RC passages.
- Revise Class 12 NCERT English grammar exercises to reinforce Applied Grammar question types.
- Practise sentence rearrangement exercises from CUET-specific language guides. These questions are often the fastest marks to secure with targeted practice.

Ans. No. As of August 2026, NTA has not released the CUET 2027 official syllabus. The notification, along with the subject-wise syllabus PDFs, is expected in January 2027 at cuet.nta.nic.in. Use the CUET 2026 syllabus as your preparatory base until then.
Ques. Is the CUET 2027 syllabus the same as the 2026 syllabus?
Ans. No major changes have been announced for 2027 yet. The 2026 syllabus had notable revisions: Physics dropped Cyclotron and Van de Graaff Generator; Mathematics added Integration of Quadratic Expressions and removed Random Variables; Business Studies added Financial Markets and removed Entrepreneurship Development; Economics added Indian Economic Development. These changes carry forward. Watch cuet.nta.nic.in for any fresh 2027-specific revisions once the notification arrives.
Ques. Which unit has the highest weightage in CUET Physics 2027?
Ans. Based on CUET 2022–2026 analysis, Optics (Ray Optics + Wave Optics) and the combined Electrostatics + Current Electricity block together account for approximately 35–40% of the Physics paper. Electronic Devices is also consistently tested. These three areas are your highest-return focus zones for CUET Physics 2027.
Ques. Is NCERT enough for CUET 2027 preparation?
Ans. Yes — for domain subjects, NCERT Class 12 textbooks cover the full syllabus. Around 80–90% of CUET domain subject questions are directly based on NCERT content, language, and diagrams. Supplement NCERT with CUET-specific practice paper books for MCQ pattern exposure, but NCERT is the primary and non-negotiable resource.
Ques. How many subjects can I choose in CUET 2027?
Ans. You can choose a maximum of 5 subjects. The selection must include at least one language from Section IA or IB. The remaining choices can be domain subjects and the General Aptitude Test, depending on the requirements of the universities and programmes you are applying for.
Ques. What is the marking scheme for CUET 2027?
Ans. Each correct answer earns +5 marks. Each incorrect answer attracts −1 mark. Unattempted questions carry 0 marks. Each subject paper has 50 questions for a total of 250 marks. Avoid guessing on questions you are completely unsure about.
Ques. Where can I download the official CUET 2027 syllabus PDF?
Ans. The official CUET 2027 syllabus PDF will be available at cuet.nta.nic.in after NTA releases the Information Bulletin (expected January 2027). Each subject has a separate PDF — download only the subjects you have chosen to avoid confusion.
Ques. Is the General Aptitude Test (GAT) compulsory for all CUET 2027 students?
Ans. GAT is not universally compulsory, but many universities require it for multi-discipline or general undergraduate programmes. Check the specific admission requirements of each university and programme before finalising your subject choices. Students applying to Science or Commerce honours programmes usually prioritise domain subjects over GAT.
Ques. Has CUET Biology reduced the Environmental Issues topics for 2027?
Ans. The 2026 revision reduced sub-topics within the Ecology unit, with several Environmental Issues sub-topics scaled back in scope. Whether this continues in 2027 will be confirmed in the official 2027 syllabus PDF. Until then, treat the reduced 2026 scope as the reference — do not invest heavy preparation time in sub-topics removed in 2026.
Ques. What is the difference between Section B1 and Section B2 in CUET Mathematics 2027?
Ans. Section B1 covers Pure Mathematics (advanced Calculus, Algebra, 3D Geometry, Probability — suitable for Science stream students). Section B2 covers Applied Mathematics (Financial Mathematics, Inferential Statistics, Index Numbers, Business Calculus — suitable for Commerce stream students). You choose one of the two for the non-compulsory 35 questions, attempting any 25. Section A (15 questions) is compulsory for all.
Ques. How should I cover the full CUET 2027 syllabus in time?
Ans. With the exam expected in May–June 2027, you have roughly 9–10 months from August 2026. A practical four-phase plan: August–October 2026 — complete one full NCERT reading for each chosen subject; November–December 2026 — revise high-weightage chapters and begin chapter-wise MCQ practice; January 2027 — download the official syllabus when released and plug any gaps; February–April 2027 — full-length subject mock tests and weak-area revision. Attempt at least 10 full-length subject-wise mock tests before the exam date.
Ques. Which languages are available in the CUET 2027 Language Test?
Ans. Section IA covers 13 languages: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Section IB covers additional modern Indian languages including Sanskrit, Maithili, Manipuri, Kashmiri, Sindhi, Santhali, Bodo, Dogri, Konkani, and Nepali. You must appear in at least one language paper.
