CUET 2027 Preparation Tips

CUET 2027 Preparation Tips: Domain-wise Strategy

CUET rewards students who know the Class 12 NCERT curriculum well. A focused, chapter-by-chapter plan covering all chosen domain subjects — combined with daily timed practice from past CUET papers — is the most effective approach.

Mathematics Preparation Tips (Section B1 — Core Maths)

  • Start with Calculus. Integration, Application of Integrals, and Differential Equations together account for 30–35% of Section B1 — cover these units before Algebra and Vectors.
  • Solve every NCERT example and exercise in Chapters 5–9 (the Calculus chapters) — CUET questions are closely modelled on NCERT problem structures.
  • Practice at least 10 Matrices and Determinants problems every day — this unit can contribute 7–9 questions in Section B1.
  • Attempt at least 3 full-length timed Mathematics mock tests in the final month — the 45-minute limit demands accuracy under pressure.
  • Do not ignore Relations and Functions and Inverse Trigonometric Functions — 3–4 questions each year come from this unit.

Mathematics Preparation Tips (Section B2 — Applied Maths)

  • Use NCERT Applied Mathematics Class 12 as the primary textbook — all B2 units are covered in this book.
  • Give special attention to Financial Mathematics and Index Numbers — these are unique to Section B2 and not covered in standard Core Mathematics preparation material.
  • For Inferential Statistics, understand the logic behind Chi-Square tests and hypothesis testing — the calculation steps are straightforward once the theory is clear.

Science Domain Preparation Tips

  • Cover all Physics units from NCERT Class 12 — Electrostatics, Optics, and Semiconductor Devices carry higher question density based on previous CUET papers.
  • For Chemistry, focus on Organic Chemistry reaction mechanisms — Aldehydes, Ketones, Carboxylic Acids, and Haloalkanes are high-priority units.
  • In Biology, Genetics and Molecular Biology questions account for approximately 30% of the section — prioritise NCERT Biology Chapters 5–9 (Class 12).

Commerce Domain Preparation Tips

  • For Accountancy, Partnership Accounts and Company Accounts form the bulk of the question paper — revise journal entries, adjustments, and financial statement preparation.
  • The Indian Economic Development unit is newly part of the CUET Economics syllabus (added in 2026) — revise both NCERT Macroeconomics and NCERT Indian Economic Development textbooks fully.
  • The newly added Financial Markets unit in Business Studies will carry fresh questions — include it in your revision from NCERT Business Studies Part II.

General Test Preparation Tips

  • Read a reliable current affairs source daily — government schemes, national events, sports awards, and science breakthroughs are frequent GK question areas.
  • Practise Data Interpretation sets from previous CUET General Test papers — DI questions on tables and bar charts can be solved quickly with consistent practice.
  • Logical Reasoning — Puzzles, Syllogisms, and Seating Arrangement — requires 15–20 days of consistent daily practice to build question-solving speed.

Language Section Preparation Tips

  • Attempt all three Reading Comprehension passages first in the Language paper — they carry the most marks and reward careful reading over syllabus-specific revision.
  • Build vocabulary using NCERT Class 12 English textbooks; grammar rules (Active/Passive, Direct/Indirect) appear every year in the Language section.
CUET Syllabus FAQs

CUET Syllabus 2027 FAQs

Ques. Is the CUET 2027 syllabus the same as CUET 2026?

Ans. The official CUET 2027 syllabus has not been released yet — it is expected in November–December 2026. Based on previous patterns, NTA makes minor subject-wise revisions each cycle. Use the CUET 2026 syllabus as your current reference and monitor exams.nta.ac.in for the 2027 information bulletin.

Ques. Which chapter has the highest weightage in CUET Mathematics?

Ans. Calculus — specifically Integration, Application of Integrals, and Differential Equations — carries the highest weightage in CUET Mathematics Section B1, accounting for approximately 30–35% of questions (10–12 out of 35). Algebra (Matrices and Determinants) follows at around 20–25%. Together, Calculus and Algebra account for over 50% of Section B1.

Ques. Is NCERT enough for CUET 2027 preparation?

Ans. Yes — NCERT Class 12 textbooks are the primary and sufficient source for all CUET domain subjects. The CUET syllabus is explicitly aligned to NCERT. After finishing NCERT, supplement with CUET-specific practice guides (Arihant or Oswaal) for timed mock practice. For the General Test, use R.S. Aggarwal’s Reasoning book alongside NCERT for the aptitude component.

Ques. Where can I download the official CUET 2027 syllabus PDF?

Ans. The CUET 2027 syllabus PDF will be available at exams.nta.ac.in/CUET-UG once NTA releases the information bulletin (expected November–December 2026). Until then, download the CUET 2026 subject-wise PDFs from the same portal as your preparation guide.

Ques. What is the difference between CUET Mathematics Section B1 and Section B2?

Ans. Section B1 (Core Mathematics) covers the full NCERT Class 12 Mathematics curriculum — Relations and Functions, Calculus, Vectors, 3D Geometry, and Probability. Section B2 (Applied Mathematics) covers practical topics — Financial Mathematics, Index Numbers, Inferential Statistics, and Probability Distributions — from the NCERT Applied Mathematics Class 12 textbook. Students targeting B.Sc. Mathematics or pure science courses should choose B1; students applying for B.Com. or BBA programmes may choose B2.

Ques. Has the CUET Mathematics syllabus been revised recently?

Ans. Yes. NTA removed the topic "Random Variables and their Probability Distributions" from the Probability unit in CUET UG 2026 Mathematics (Section B1). This is reflected in the current active syllabus. For CUET 2027, any additional changes will appear in the NTA information bulletin expected by November–December 2026.

Ques. How many domain subjects can I choose in CUET UG?

Ans. You can choose up to 6 domain subjects in Section II. The combination depends on the university and programme you are targeting. Each university publishes a CUET subject matrix listing which subjects it requires — check this before making your subject selection during registration.

Ques. What books should I follow for CUET Mathematics 2027?

Ans. For Section B1 (Core): NCERT Mathematics Part I and II (Class 12) is the primary source; RD Sharma Class 12 for deeper Calculus practice; Arihant CUET UG Mathematics for CUET-pattern MCQ sets. For Section B2 (Applied): use NCERT Applied Mathematics Class 12 as the primary textbook — Financial Mathematics, Index Numbers, and Inferential Statistics are covered here.

Ques. Is the General Test compulsory for all CUET universities?

Ans. No — the General Test is not required by every programme. Some courses accept only domain subject scores; others require the General Test score in addition. Many B.A. and B.Com. programmes at Central Universities require General Test scores. Check each university’s CUET subject matrix for your target programme before selecting subjects during registration.

Ques. How many subjects are in the CUET 2027 syllabus overall?

Ans. CUET UG covers 37 subjects total — 13 languages in Section IA, 20 additional languages in Section IB, 23 domain subjects in Section II, and 1 General Test in Section III. Each domain subject’s syllabus matches the Class 12 NCERT curriculum for that subject, covering all units and chapters from the corresponding NCERT textbook.

Ques. What are the most important topics in CUET Mathematics Section B1?

Ans. The highest-priority topics in Section B1 are: (1) Integrals — methods of integration and definite integral applications, (2) Application of Derivatives — maxima, minima, tangents, normals, (3) Matrices and Determinants — operations and solution of linear equations, (4) Vectors and 3D Geometry — dot and cross products, equations of lines and planes, and (5) Probability — Bayes’ Theorem and Binomial Distribution. These five areas together account for roughly 75–80% of Section B1 questions.

Ques. How should I cover the full CUET syllabus in 6 months?

Ans. Divide preparation into three phases. Phase 1 (Months 1–2): Complete NCERT chapters for all chosen domain subjects — do not skip any chapter. Phase 2 (Months 3–4): Practise CUET-pattern MCQs for each subject; begin General Test reasoning and GK. Phase 3 (Months 5–6): Attempt full-length timed mock tests; revise weak chapters; solve previous year CUET papers from 2022–2026. For Mathematics, start with Calculus and Algebra in Phase 1 since they carry the highest weightage.
