SP Jain Selection Procedure through CAT 2019

    S.P Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) is one of the prominent business schools in India. SPJIMR PGDM Admission 2020 application process is open. Application process has begun from 19th September 2019, and the last date for submission of form is 22nd November 2019.

    • Current intake for PGDM program is 240. Additional 36 seats have been sanctioned for PIO/OCI and Foreign Nationals. Total number of seats are 276.
    • An applicant needs to score minimum qualifying marks in CAT/XAT/GMAT entrance exams.
    • SPJIMR does not have any management quota. The admission is strictly based on merit.
    • The overall fee for pursuing PGDM course is INR 17.50 lakhs.
    • The application fee is INR 1,500. Credit card or net banking are acceptable modes of payment.

    SP Jain Eligibility Criteria

    While making an application to PGDM program, the applicant is required to select from the four specialisations offered, and give two preferences. The four specialisations are: Making preference choice at an earlier stage helps in:

    • Achieving segregation at the time of admission based on the needs of the recruiting organizations.
    • Broadening recruiters spectrum when students graduate.

    Academic Background

    Applicant must have a strong academic background. Performance at all levels of education i.e. senior secondary level (10th), higher secondary level (12th), and throughout graduation is considered.

    10th and 12th Grade
    1. Aggregate of all subjects mentioned in the marksheet are considered for arriving at the final percentage, irrespective of the considering parameters of the university.
    2. If the board/university awards marks in grades/points (CGPA), then they have to be converted into percentage through applicable converter. A conversion certificate might be asked to submit if you are shortlisted.
    1. A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% of marks or equivalent CGPA.
    2. The bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification must be of minimum three years after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
    3. Applicants in the last year of degree are also eligible to apply, provided they score a minimum of 50% in their last exam appeared, and are able to get a Provisional Certificate from the Principal/Registrar of his/her university.
    4. For the applicants awaiting their final year results, final percentage will be calculated on the basis of marks secured in previous semesters.
    5. Upon selection of applicants from C and D category, have to provide their final degree by 21 December 2020, until which their admission will be considered provisional. Failure to do so can lead to admission cancellation.
    6. Bachelor’s degree of an Indian applicant who has pursued/pursuing education abroad, should be recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), or other appropriate authorities.

    Work Experience

    • Having prior work experience is not mandatory for this program. Recent graduates or applicants with up to five years of work experience can apply.
    • Relevant work experience after graduation will be considered excluding internships/training which are taken as a part of the curriculum.
    • Proof of work experience such as offer letter, salary slips, and experience letter will have to be provided.

    Candidates willing to apply for PGDM program can go through the steps given below:

    • Visit the official website of SPJIMR
    • On the top of the page is ‘Admission’, click it.
    • Look for the preferred MBA Programme link and click ‘Apply’. 
    • Log-in using your email id and password. 
    • Fill the application form and pay the requisite fee. 
    • A confirmation mail will be sent on your email id. 

    SPJIMR Fee Structure

    The fee for Indian students for the batch of 2019-20 is INR 17.50 lakhs. The fee includes:

    • Tuition fee
    • Basic hostel/accommodation
    • Global Fast Track (provides exposure to students at premier b-schools in US).

    It does not include travel expenses, boarding, lodging, visa, insurance and incidentals for Global Fast Track. Applicants selected for PGDM program are eligible for merit cum means based financial assistance. However, any financial assistance will be made available only when the program commences.

    Note: SPJIMR communicates directly to the shortlisted candidates, there is no mediator that can confirm admission. Therefore candidates/their parents should not involve themselves in any kind of transaction asked by the mediators.

    SPJIMR Qualifying Cutoff

    One of the important factors for seeking admission in SPJIMR is meeting the required cut off for CAT 2019. The CAT 2019 exam is scheduled to be held on 24th November, 2019. A section-wise cut-off for all entrance exams is given below.

    SPJIMR Selection Process

    There are several rounds for a candidate to qualify the selection criteria of the university. Candidates are separated on the basis of Profile based and Profile-cum-score based. 

    For PGDM

    The applicants are selected on the basis of their profiles. Profiles are then scored and divided into two sections: Profile based and Profile cum Score based.

    • Applicants grouped under the first category are called for an interview round. Factors such as:
      • Consistency of academic record.
      • Relevance of work experience for specialization
      • Versatility and achievements
    • The second phase of shortlisting is done after the availability of test scores. Applicants in this round are called for interview based on their profile and test scores.
    • The final selection list is based on a composite score of the profile, academic record, work experience, and scores in CAT/XAT/GMAT.

    For PGCIM

    • Candidates shortlisted on the basis of CAT scores.
    • Candidates are further called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
    • Final selection is on the basis of CAT scores, clear career plans, a sound purpose of taking up the program, etc.

    For PGPM

    • Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of the entrance exam score.
    • Selected candidates are called for Personal Interview.

    Ques – What is the eligibility criteria for PGDM programs?

    Ans – To be eligible for PGDM course, candidates must have qualified bachelor’s degree or equivalent (10+2+3) from a recognized university.
