    CAT 2020 Exam Centers list is released in the official notification by the conducting body IIM Indore. The exam will be conducted in 156 cities at more than 375 exam centers. Uptill 2018 it was conducted in 147 cities. The final allotted center will be mentioned on Admit Card which can be downloaded till exam dayCandidates can now mention 6 exam center preferences while filling up CAT Application Form instead of 4.

    CAT 2020: Exam Day Instructions 

    • Candidates can choose 4 preferred exam centers while filling CAT Application Form
    • Candidates must have their admit cards along with a photograph same as the one uploaded in the application form affixed to it.
    • An original valid ID proof- Aadhar Card, Passport, Driving License, PAN Card, Voter ID, College ID, Employer ID, or Identification Affidavit is to be presented at the gates of the exam centers.
    • No item other than admit card and ID proof is allowed inside the exam centers.
    • Candidates will be asked to remove their footwear before entering the examination hall.
    • Jewellery, watches, electronic gadgets like mobile phones, calculators, etc. or any other metal item are not allowed inside the exam centers.
    • Under no circumstances will the allotted exam center be changed.
    • Every year new exam centers are added to the list. The same is expected for this year as well.
    • Candidates are advised to choose exam centers closer to their city of residence.

    Reporting time for CAT 2020 Exam Centers

    • Two sessions of the exam are conducted each center- forenoon and afternoon.
    • The forenoon session is from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Reporting time for the forenoon session is 7:30 AM.
    • The afternoon session is from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Reporting time for the afternoon session is 1:00 PM.
    • Entry in the exam centers will end at-
    1. 8:45 AM for the forenoon session
    2. 2:15 PM for the afternoon session

    • CAT Admit Card will be released by IIM Indore on October 28, 2020 and will be avilable till exam day. 
    • Candidates can download their hall ticket from theofficial website.

    The e-version of CAT 2020 Admit card contains a google map link facility through which candidates can know the exact location of their exam center.     CAT 2020 Exam Pattern

    • CAT is a 180-minutes long computer-based test.
    • It consists of 100 questions from 3 sections, namely, Reading Comprehension and Verbal Ability, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude.
    • The questions are a combination of MCQs and non-MCQs. Each section is allotted a time limit of 60 minutes.
    • Each question carries 3 marks. For each incorrect answer, 1 mark is deducted.
    • There is no negative marking in the case of non-MCQs.

    Ques.  Can we choose our exam centers and slot for CAT 2020?

    Ans. While filling the CAT 2020 Application form, candidates are asked to list their 4 preferred exam cities. Out of which the test center is alloted to the candidate. The conducting authority will try its best to allot everyone their desired exam center, but it doesn’t guarantee the same. However, slots are assigned by the conducting body and candidates can not choose the same. 

    Ques. How to use the google map facility link given in the admit card?

    Ans. Google map facility link on the e-version of CAT 2020 Admit Card can be used to know the exact location of CAT 2020 Exam Center. The steps to use the link are as follows:

    • Download your CAT 2020 Admit card.
    • Click on the google map link provided.
    • You will be directed to the google maps with the exact location of the exam center.

    Ans.Yes, it is very important to bring CAT admit card to the exam center, with photograph same as the one uploaded in the application form affixed to it.

    Ques.  What will happen if we forget to bring the admit card?

    Ans.Any student who doesn’t bring the admit card to the exam center, will not be allowed to give the exam.

    Ques.  Which documents are we supposed to bring to the exam center?

    Ans.On the exam day, a hard copy of admit card and an original valid ID proof will have to be presented at the gates of the exam centers. Without these, entry to the examination hall will not be permitted. No other documents are allowed inside the exam center.

    Ques.  What can be a valid ID proof?

    Ans.Aadhar Card, Passport, PAN Card, Voter ID, Driving License, College ID, Employer ID, or Identification Affidavit can be considered as a valid ID proof. Note that all these should be original, photocopies will not be accepted.

    Ques.  Will we have to remove the footwear?

    Ans.Yes, before entering in the examination hall, all students will have to remove their footwear.

    Ques.  Is a calculator allowed inside the examination hall?

    Ans.No, calculators, jewelry, watches, mobile phones, or any other metal item or electronic gadget are not allowed inside the exam centers.

    Ans.For the afternoon session, no entry will be permitted after 2:15 pm under any circumstances.

    Ques.  Is it a pen-paper test or computer based?

    Ans.CAT 2020 is a computer-based test consisting of three sections. There will be both MCQ and Non MCQ questions in the question paper.

    Ques.  How much time is allotted to complete the exam?

    Ans.Three hours (180 minutes) are allotted to complete the test having 100 questions of both MCQ and Non-MCQ nature.

    Ques.  How many rough sheets will be provided in the exam hall?

    Ans.They will provide you with unlimited rough sheets, but still practice consuming less rough sheets and minimize usage.

    Ques.  Are we allowed to carry stationery items?

    Ans.As CAT 2020 is a computer-based test, students are advised to carry minimum stationary item. In the examination hall, you will be provided with a pencil and a rough sheet. You can carry a pen with you if you want to.

    Ques.  Is mehendi allowed in the examination hall?

    Ans.No, Mehendi is not allowed in the examination hall, as your digital fingerprint scan will be captured in the exam center. If your fingerprints cannot be digitally scanned due to reasons like applying Mehndi/any cosmetic colors etc., then they will not be permitted to take the test.

    Ques.  How will we perform the calculations in the exam hall without a calculator?

    Ans.In the examination hall, all students will be provided a basic On-screen Calculator for Computing. Therefore, you will be able to access the on-screen calculator and are not allowed to take any personal calculators for the test.

    Ques.  Won’t a soft copy of admit cards be enough to enter in the exam center?

    Ans.No, soft copies of admit card will not be enough for entry to the exam center. You must carry a print out of your admit card on an A4 size sheet.

    Hi Deep Jyoti, once you have submitted the application form, the correction window will be available for a limited time wherein you can only edit the uploaded images. Hence, you cannot change the examination centre once you have submitted the application form.
