    • To get shortlisted for IIM Shillong CAT Score of 75 percentile can lead you through. There is no minimum percentile requirement though to get through the shortlisting process. 

    • More than 1000 students were selected in 2020 for the final group discussion-personal interview round, which is conducted by the university's experts after the declaration of CAT Result on January 4, 2020.

    The shortlisting of the c;andidates depends upon the available seats, CAT-2019 score, and performance in the GD and PI round. In addition to this, the past academic performance of the candidate is also taken into account. Some of the other basic criterion have been listed below:

    • Minimum 75 percentile in CAT-2019 score in all sections (Quantitative aptitude, Data interpretation and logic reasoning, and Verbal and reading comprehension) is needed to get selected to further process.
    • There is no minimum percentile in CAT 2019.
    • If you fail to score the minimum 75 percentile slab in all sections of the CAT exam, then you will not be selected to the final stage selection process.
    • If the candidate has scored well in the past academic season, then he/she will be awarded higher points for it.
    • There is a minimum score set at 80% in 10th and 12th examinations, to get shortlisted.
    • Bachelor's degree marks are not given any weightage.
    • It is mandatory for all shortlisted candidates to appear for the PI and GD round, failing to attend any of this will lead to cancellation of the candidature.
    • Based on the CAT-2019 scores, all candidates will be segregated. Taking into consideration their academic results and stream they have applied to, the candidates will be selected for the next round of selection.
    • Category wise shortlisting is also done, i.e. differently abled, Scheduled caste, Scheduled tribe, EWS, OBC and General category.
    • In the final stage, the candidates who are shortlisted get an intimation through email, phone number and also on the IIM Shillong website. The candidates will get the SMS on the mobile number that is provided by them on the CAT-2019 form.

    IIM Shillong: Fees and Seat Intake

    - For two years, a candidate needs to pay a fee of 15 lakhs.

    - IIM Shillong takes in 180 students as approved. However, there is a possibility of increasing the number of seats for the PGP 2020-22 academic session.

    • The candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree of 3 years followed after 12th. He/She should have scored a minimum of 50% or equivalent CGPA. However, IIM Shillong offers relaxation for the candidates belonging to PwD/SC/ST categories. For them, it is 45%.
    • The candidate should appear in CAT 2019 for meeting the mandatory eligibility criteria. He/She should also score the minimum 75 percentile in all sections.
    • If the candidate has been scored in CGPA instead of marks, then weightage will be given to the certificate providing university or institute from where the Bachelor's degree has been awarded.
    • Candidates who have appeared the final year exam of their Bachelor's degree and awaiting the results can apply for admission into IIM Shillong for 2020. Such candidates need to provide a certificate from the Head of the institute or Registrar stating that the candidate has appeared for the final year examination and has secured 50% marks (45% for exclusive categories) based on latest exam grades.
    • Such candidates will not be allowed admission into IIM Shillong, if they do not produce their final results certificate by June 2020, stating that they have completed the Degree course.
    • Once selected, it is mandatory to produce the Bachelor's degree mark sheet and certificates on or before 30th June, 2020. However, the deadline is now December, 2020.

    This complete selection process stands independent of other IIMs. All candidates should note that it is important to perform well in all stages of the selection process. If any candidate does not respond during any of the stages, then his/her candidature will be cancelled.

    The details of all candidates are secured and not shared with any outer parties. Candidates who are offered admission letters and if they do not respond within the stipulated time period, this will lead to automatically cancel their candidature.

    Stage 1 includes shortlisting of the candidates for PI round. Here, in this stage, the candidates need to fill up the registration forms. There are minimum requirements that needs to be met up by the candidate for clearing the stage 1, such as the minimum qualifying marks secured in 10, 12, graduation and CAT. Few students will only be shortlisted based on the calculations mentioned in the table below:

    Where, A refers to the percentage of candidates from each academic disciplines; 1…g are the academic disciplines; N refers to Number of candidates appeared for CAT; N (1-g) refers to number of candidates present in academic disciplines.

    In stage 2, the candidates are shortlisted for admission. In previous years, the merit list was done based on the GD-PI scores. However, due to COVID-19, GD will not be taking place. The admission of candidates will be done based on the merit list. Here is the cut off table for GD-PI round:

    Following is the selection process of IIM Shillong.

    • The candidates who have been shortlisted and received the intimation letter through email, SMS or website, are eligible to attend the final selection round.
    • There is an interview form that is available at the IIM Shillong website, which needs to be filled in by the candidate. This also needs to be uploaded there itself.
    • Those who fill in the form correctly and within the time frame, received the intimation for the next round. They will call for the GD and PI round.
    • Those who are not selected, they will not receive any intimation.
    • In the final selection round, there are two rounds: group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI).
    • On completion of GD and PI round, the final list of candidates is released on the website, which is based on the final round score and CAT-2019 scores.
    • The offer for admissions is made by IIM Shillong.
    • The total scores of all candidates are calculated using Normalized score of Performance in GD, PI and CAT-2019 absolute score.
    • Based on different categories, the cut offs for GD and PI round is fixed.

    The final admission has already been declared by IIM Shillong at its website. Mails have been sent to the selected candidates as well as to the waitlisted candidates.

    Ans. IIM Shillong offer 2-year, full-time PGP program. It is a residential program.

    Question: What is the selection procedure for admission in IIMs and other participating B-Schools?

    Ans. Generally, the IIMs and other participating B-Schools shortlist candidates for admission through a 2-3 stage selection process comprising of a round of Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion, and Personal Interview (PI).
