Assam NEET MBBS/BDS Counselling 2020- Dates, Eligibility, and Merit List

    Directorate of Medical Education, Assam will conduct Assam NEET 2020 Counselling and the registration shall commence once NEET Results are declared.The counselling will be conducted for 85% State Quota seats which include approximately 726 seats in medical colleges and 40 seats in dental colleges. The seats will be allotted on the merit-cum-preference basis so the candidates are advised to choose colleges according to their score in NEET 2020

    Due to the delay in the exam, the dates for post-exam events like result declaration and counselling will also be rescheduled accordingly. Although NEET 2020 has been finally scheduled for July 26, 2020, the exam is most likely to get further postponed because of the rising coronavirus cases in the country.     There will be two rounds of Assam state counselling for NEET qualified candidates and a mop-up will be conducted if the seats remain vacant.

    • Counselling will be conducted in offline mode.
    • Candidates have to choose courses and colleges in the application form which will be submitted during the counselling of Assam NEET 2020
    • Admission in various institutes through each quota is done on the basis of the prepared NEET Merit List

    Eligibility Criteria

    Assam NEET MBBS/BDS 2020 Eligibility Criteria

    Candidates appearing for Assam NEET MBBS/BDS Counselling 2020 are required to fulfill certain eligibility criteria. The eligibility mentioned is mandatory and candidates failing to meet any of the listed criteria will be removed from the process.


    • Applicant should be a registered citizen of Assam.
    • Parent of the candidates must be living in Assam for not less than 20 years.
    • The above condition will not be applicable to son/daughter of officers of All India Services working in Assam.

    Academic Qualification

    • Candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English in 10+2 standard.
    • Applicant must have passed 10+2 with 60% aggregate marks and for the candidates belonging to SC/ST(P)/ST(H)/OBC/MOBC the minimum required marks are 50%.
    • The applicant must have studied from class 6 to 10 in the state of Assam.
    • The candidate must have appeared and qualified NEET 2020


    • Candidate must not be above 24 years or below 17 years of age on December 31, 2020.
    • For SC/ST Candidates: The upper age limit mentioned above is relaxed by 3 years.

    Counselling Registration

    Assam NEET MBBS/BDS 2020 Counselling Registration

    The application form of Assam NEET MBBS/BDS Counselling will be available in the online mode on the official website. Below are the steps that applicants need to follow to fill the application form-

    1. Go to
    2. Click on the “MBBS/BDS Counselling 2020” link. 
    3. Read all the instruction and click on “Apply Now”. 
    4. Provide details like personal, academic, address and others.
    5. Also, the candidates need to upload the scanned image of their photograph and signature.
    6. Verify your details and proceed to “Submit”
    7. After successfully submitting the online application form, candidates need to take a print out of the e-challan and deposit the requisite fee in any branch of State Bank of India.
    8. It is to be noted that the candidates will have to deposit INR 1240 (along with bank charges INR 60) an application fee on the second working day after the successful submission of the application form.
    9. The applicant will receive the copy of challan showing the transaction Id after the submission of fee.
    10. Also, it is advised to the candidates to take the print out of the Assam MBBS/BDS 2020 Application Form.
    • The size of the photograph should be between 35Kb to 20Kb
    • Size of signature should be between 30Kb to 15Kb.
    • The format of the signature and photograph should either be .jpeg or .jpg
    • After filling all the details login ID of the candidate will be created.
    • Candidates are advised to keep the password carefully created at the time of making login ID.
    • The login ID and password will be used further to login into the Assam MBBS 2020 Application Form. 

    Counselling Process

    Assam NEET MBBS/BDS 2020 Counselling Process

    DME Assam conducts Assam NEET MBBS/BDS Counselling for registered candidates only. Counselling is conducted in multiple rounds. At the end of each round, candidates are allotted seats as per their choices and position in the merit list. Here are some important points and guidelines regarding Assam NEET MBBS/BDS Counselling 2020.

    1. Assam NEET MBBS/BDS 2020 Counselling is organized in offline mode.
    2. Candidate participating in the counselling procedure need to fill the separate application form (form B).
    3. Candidates will have to pay INR 500 as the counselling fee.
    4. Candidates need to be present with all the necessary documents before the admission committee.
    5. As per the merit list and order of the preference, the seats are allocated to the candidate.

    Documents Required in Assam NEET MBBS/BDS Counselling 2020

    Below are the documents required to be produced at the time of document verification.

    • The Candidates need to bring Form – B in the original duly and properly filled in along with all relevant annexure certificate attached with Form-’B’
    • NEET 2020 Rank card
    • NEET 2020 Admit Card
    • Class 10 Mark sheet and Certificate
    • Class 12 Mark sheet and Certificate
    • Recent passport-size photograph (4 copies)
    • Character Certificate from Head of the Institution last attended
    • Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC) (to be issued by D.C./S.D.O. (Civil) of concerning District/Sub-Division)
    • Academic Gap Certificate (if applicable)
    • Caste/Category Certificate (if applicable)

    Note: A set of all the documents mentioned above has to be submitted by the candidates. These documents should be self-attested by the candidates.

    Selection in Assam NEET MBBS/BDS Counselling 2020 will be made under 5 categories namely OC, SC, ST (Plains), ST (Hills) and PH reservations following the rules of reservation of the Government of Assam as follows. Seats are reserved for candidates belonging to listed categories. The remaining 60% of the seats are open for unreserved applicants. Candidates claiming reservation under certain categories are required to present the original documentation supporting their claim.
