How to Fill JEE Main 2027 Application Form — Step by Step
The entire process takes place online at jeemain.nta.nic.in. Complete all five steps in one sitting if possible — a partially saved form without fee payment is not considered submitted.
Step 1 — New Registration
- Visit the official NTA portal at jeemain.nta.nic.in.
- Click the "New Candidate Registration" link on the homepage.
- Enter your name, date of birth, email ID, and mobile number.
- Create a password and submit the registration form.
- Note your Application Number — this is your login ID for all future steps and cannot be recovered if lost.
Step 2 — Fill the Application Form
- Log in with your Application Number and password.
- Fill in personal details: full name, address, parent’s name, and contact information.
- Enter academic details: Class 12 board, subjects, roll number, and aggregate percentage.
- Select your paper — Paper 1 for B.E./B.Tech; Paper 2A for B.Arch; Paper 2B for B.Planning; or a combination.
- Choose four exam city preferences in order of priority for centre allotment.
Step 3 — Upload Documents
- Upload your scanned photograph and signature in JPEG/JPG format within the specified size limits.
- Upload Class 10 and Class 12 certificates.
- Upload your category or PwD certificate if applicable.
- Preview every uploaded file — blurry or cut-off documents lead to rejection.
Step 4 — Pay the Application Fee
- Select a payment mode: debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI, or offline e-challan at a designated bank.
- Complete the transaction and wait for the confirmation screen.
- A "Payment Successful" message and a transaction ID confirm the fee has been received.
Step 5 — Download the Confirmation Page
- After successful payment, your application confirmation page is generated automatically.
- Download and print this page immediately.
- Keep it safe — you will need it during admit card download and JoSAA/CSAB counselling.
JEE Main 2027 Application Fee (Expected)
The figures below are expected based on JEE Main 2025 and 2026 trends. Official fee amounts will be published in the NTA notification.
| Category | Paper 1 or Paper 2 (Per Session) | Paper 1 + Paper 2 (Per Session) |
|---|---|---|
| General / EWS / OBC-NCL (Male) | ₹1,000 | ₹1,900 |
| General / EWS / OBC-NCL (Female) | ₹800 | ₹1,600 |
| SC / ST / PwD / Transgender | ₹500 | ₹1,000 |
Students who apply for both Session 1 and Session 2 pay the fee separately for each session. There is no refund after fee payment is completed.
Common Mistakes to Avoid While Applying
Small errors in the application form cause serious problems at the admit card or counselling stage. Watch out for these:
- Wrong date of birth: Enter it exactly as printed on your Class 10 certificate — not your Aadhaar card.
- Incorrect photograph: Use a recent colour photo on a white background within the file size limit. Old or low-resolution photos are rejected.
- Wrong category selection: Choosing the wrong category affects your fee and reservation benefit. Cross-check before final submission.
- Not saving the confirmation page: Download and print it immediately after payment — NTA does not email it separately.
- Missing the last date: NTA does not grant individual deadline extensions. Apply at least three to four days before the closing date.
- Wrong document format or size: Upload only JPEG/JPG or PDF files within NTA’s specified size range. Files outside the range will not upload.
