Documents Required at JEE Main Exam Center 2018

To ensure a smooth and transparent conduct of JEE Main, CBSE instructs candidates to bring several documents on the exam day. The documents assist in verifying the identity of the applicants and approve their candidature in JEE Main 2018. For the first time this year, metal detectors will be used to screen candidates. This is to ensure no candidate can take any electronic devices inside the exam hall and indulge in unfair practices.

  • This year, JEE Main 2018 is scheduled for April 8 (offline), April 15 & April 16 (online). Check JEE Main 2018 Schedule
  • Admit card for JEE Main, along with a valid ID Proof must be carried to the exam hall.
  • CBSE has announced to establish 258 Exam Centres, out of which 248 are in India and 10 outside India.
  • Board has decided to allow Diabetic students to carry sugar tablets or fruits such as banana, apple or orange and a transparent bottle of water. Check JEE Main Exam Day Guidelines

JEE Main 2018 – Documents Required at Exam Center

JEE Apex board has clearly mentioned in the official e-brochure about all the documents that one needs to carry on the exam day. Mentioned below are the names of the documents – 

JEE Main 2018 Admit Card

  1. Admit card is your main ticket to enter the examination hall.
  2. JEE Main admit card helps in confirming the applicant's details and approves candidate to sit for the JEE Main Exam.
  3. It is compulsory for everyone to carry their admit card issued by CBSE to the allocated JEE Main Exam Center.

Aadhar Card / Passport (ID you entered during Registration)

  1. Aadhar Card is the most important document that one must present at the time of examination.
  2. The main purpose of is to support/ verify the details already present in the admit card.
  3. Aadhar Number is a twelve digit unique number issued to Indian Citizens on the basis of their biometric and demographic data.
  4. As of February 2017, 92.3% of total population of India have Aadhar Number.
  5. Considering its success and acceptance at such a large scale, CBSE made Aadhar Card mandatory for entrance examination.

Stationary items are allowed for only JEE Main 2018 Paper II

  1. Candidates appearing for Paper II of JEE Main 2018 must carry geometry box set, pencils, erasers and colour pencils or crayons along with them to the JEE Main 2018 exam centre.

Cardboard/ Clipboard

  1. Candidates appearing for JEE Main in the offline mode are advised to carry a cardboard or a clip board to avoid any difficulty while filling responses in the OMR response sheet.
  2. However, candidates must ensure that nothing is written on it.

What Not to Bring at the Exam Center?

Apart from the documents listed above, there are few things/ objects that are prohibited at the examination venue. They are as follows:

  • Electronic Devices – mobile phone, calculators, calculator watches and other such electronic devices are banned.
  • Rough Paper –  candidates are provided with sheets for rough work and hence CBSE does not allow any type of paper inside the exam hall.
  • Wallet or Purse –  candidates are not allowed to carry their wallets inside the test venue.
  • Stationary – candidates will be provided with all the required stationery like Blue/ Black ball point pen at the exam center only. 

Note – The authorities will not hold any responsibility in case of any loss of material of a candidate. Hence, it is suggested to make proper preparations prior to JEE Main Exam.

JEE Main 2018 Exam Day Instructions

Other than bringing along your JEE Main 2018 required documents there are many other minor things which one needs to keep in mind.

  • Candidates must be present at the test centre as per the reporting time mentioned in the e-Admit card.
  • Candidates should register their name at the registration counter and carry the e- Admit card and a valid ID proof for verification.
  • They should also sign the attendance sheet in the presence of the invigilator. Candidates will have to use ball point pen for the exam.
  • Candidates are not allowed to carry any text material, printed, or written, bits of papers or any material except the e-Admit card inside the test hall.
  • Candidates are not permitted to carry any electronic devices like mobile phones, paging devices, calculators, spy cameras etc.
  • Candidates are not allowed to leave the test hall till the completion of the entire duration of the exam time. The duration of the entrance examination will be of 3 hours.
  • The questions appearing will be in English. All questions will be of Multiple Choice Question(MCQ) type.
