    JEE Main 2020 April session is scheduled to be held from July 18 to 23, 2020. NTA has also released the set guidelines, rules, and new timings for candidates taking JEE Main 2020Students are advised to obey the guidelines to save their time and energy and evade any disciplinary issues. 

    • Candidates must carry their JEE Main 2020 Admit Card and a valid photo ID proof to the exam day. The admit card will be released 15 days prior to the date of examination. 
    • The admit card is one of the major documents that need to be carried on the exam day and without it no candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall.

    JEE Main 2020 Change in Exam Timings

    On May 22, 2020 NTA has released the official notification regarding the changes in the exam timings of JEE Main 2020. There will be a half an hour variation in the exam timings of the April session in comparison to the January session. The morning shift for the April session will start from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, and the afternoon session will start from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

    JEE Main 2020 Exam Day Guidelines

    • Please check carefully your name, paper, date of birth, gender, test center name, city, state code of eligibility and category on the admit card. If you find any mistake you need to get in touch with JEE Main office for necessary correction.
    • Note that, JEE Main Admit Card issued to you shall be provisional and shall be subject to your satisfying the eligibility conditions. 
    • You should carry a copy of the given documents on the day of your JEE Main 2020 and submit the same to the invigilator at the examination center. You have to write your Roll No. on the copy of the documents being submitted in support of class 12th/Qualifying examination.

    The examination hall will open 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam. A seat indicating Roll no. will be allocated to each candidate. You should find out and occupy your allocated seat only. If you are found to have changed your seat your candidature may be cancelled.

    • Candidates must reach the examination hall 1 hour before the start of the exam.
    • You will not be allowed to carry any bag inside the examination center.
    • Smoking and Eating is not permitted in the Examination Hall.
    • Tea, cold drinks, coffee, and snacks are also not allowed to be taken inside the Examination Room.
    • You are also not allowed to carry any textual material, Calculators, Docu Pen, Slide Rules, Log Tables, Electronic Watches with facilities of calculator, printed or written materials, bits of papers, mobile phone, pager or any other device, except the Admit Card, identity proof, document as required inside the Examination Hall. If you are found in possession of any of the above items, it will be treated as resorting to unfair means and your current examination will be cancelled, you will be debarred for future examination(s) & the equipment will be seized.
    • You should take your seat immediately at the opening of the examination hall. If you do not report in time you may miss some of the general instructions that may be announced in the examination hall.
    • You would not be allowed to enter the examination hall after the commencement of the examination. Login and read all the instructions carefully. 
    • You should show your Admit Card on demand. If you do not possess the Admit Card, you would not be permitted to write the examination. 
    • You shall not leave your seat or Examination Room until the full duration of the paper.
    • Pen/ Pencil and blank paper sheets for rough work will be provided in the examination Hall/Room. Candidates must write their name and Roll Number at the top of the sheet and must return the sheets and Admit Card to the Invigilator, before leaving the examination Hall/Room

    Exam Instructions for JEE Main 2020

    1. You should sign twice on the attendance sheet at the appropriate place - firstly on the commencement of the examination and secondly at the time of handing over the answer sheet to the invigilator. You will also be required to put your left-hand thumb impression on the attendance sheet.
    2. Candidates should take their seats immediately after the opening of the examination hall. They can log-in and read instruction, before the commencement of the exam.
    3. The stationary for rough work shall be provided in the exam hall. Candidates have to write their name and roll number on the top of the rough sheet and this sheet must be returned to the invigilator before leaving the exam hall.
    4. Candidates appearing for Aptitude Test Paper-II must bring their own geometry box set, pencils, erasers, and color pencils or crayons.
    5. Candidates must be careful that they will not be allowed to use watercolor on the Drawing sheet.
    6. The test will be of 3 hours duration.
    7. Paper I will have 3 parts, carrying equal weightage - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and all questions would carry equal marks.
    8. Each question will be allotted four marks for the correct response. One-fourth marks, i.e. one mark shall be deducted for each incorrect response.
    9. However, there will be no deduction for unattempted questions and numerical value-based questions.

    Note : No Candidate should adopt any unfair means or indulge in any unfair examination practices as the examination centers are under surveillance of CCTV and equipped with Jammers

    • The candidates with disabilities should fill in the type and percentages of disability correctly in the online JEE Main Application Form. Any incorrect information can affect their candidature.
    • Only the candidates, who have 40% or more disability, will be provided a Scribe/Reader on the request of the candidate.
    • The candidates will have choice of opting for their own scribe/reader or may submit the request to the center superintendent.
    • After the request of the candidate, the center superintendent will identify the scribe/reader students for the candidate. This is the only task of the centre superintendent to choose a scribe for the candidate.
    • However, if a candidate requests to meet the scribe before the exam, they would be allowed to meet the scribe only a day before the examination to verify whether the scribe is suitable or not.
    • One other provision is that 1 hour (60 minutes) compensatory time will be allowed to the candidates with 40% or more disability irrespective of the fact they are availing the facility of a scribe/reader.

    Guidelines for Diabetic Candidates

    • We all know that eatables are not allowed inside the examination center but for Diabetic candidates, authorities have allowed carrying eatables.
    • The eatables like sugar tablets/fruits (like banana/apple/ orange) and transparent water bottle is allowed inside the examination center.
    • No candidates whether he/ she is diabetic or not are allowed to carry packed foods like chocolate/candy/ sandwich into the examination hall.

    What Not to Carry to JEE Main 2020 Test Centre?

    • Candidates cannot carry any baggage inside the examination center.
    • JEE Apex Board will not be responsible for any safety of belongings or stolen or loss of belonging from the premises.
    • Candidates are not allowed to carry any written material, calculators, slide rules, log tables, electronic watches with facilities of calculator, bits of papers, mobile phone, or any other device.
    • If any candidate is found in the possession of any of the above or prohibited items then this may lead to cancelation of his/her candidature.

    There are certain rules that must be followed while going for JEE Main 2020 examination.

    NTA has not specified any dress code for JEE Main. So, appearing students can wear whatever they wish and comfortable in. Here, we have suggested some details for JEE Main 2020 dress code:

    • Do not wear anything with too many pockets.
    • Do not wear jewelry.
    • Wear simple, clothes without accessories.
    • Preferably wear a t-shirt and jeans, or top/Kurti with leggings.

    JEE Main 2020 is a qualifying platform for nearly 2,50,000 students in order to take JEE Advanced. This year, IITs have increased 10,000 seats, hence making it easier for more candidates to qualify for JEE Advanced and aspire for their dream college.
