CCMT 2020 Counselling: Seat Allotment, Reporting Centers, Schedule

GATE CCMT Counselling: Centralized Counselling for M.Tech/ M.Arch/ M.Plan will carry the admission process for the programs offered by NITs, IIITs. GFTIs and CFTIs. NIT Delhi is responsible for conducting CCMT Counselling this year. NIT Delhi will release the registration schedule for CCMT in May 2020.

The list of shortlisted candidates for Round 1 of seat allotment will be available from the 1st week of May at its website. The allotment of seats is entirely based on merit, selection of courses and institutes and availability of seats.  

  • The application form for CCMT will be available at 30 NITs and 9 CFTIs are participating in CCMT 2020.
  • Post declaration of GATE Result, candidates can fill the application form and provide college preferences.
  • For sponsored and part-time seats, candidates have to perform separate registration.

What is the Eligibility Requirement for CCMT 2020?

The eligibility criteria for the M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan/M.Des courses are as follows:

  • The candidate must score a suitable GATE Score on any of the three years (2018/2019/2020).
  • As qualifying degree candidates must score minimum of 6.5 CGPA or 60% (OC/OB categories) or 55% (SC/ST/PwD categories) from a recognized university.
  • If the result is yet to be announced for the above instance then the candidate has to produce a valid proof of the document till the pre-final semester of that year at the reporting center during DVC.
  • Percentage conversion to CGPA or vice versa is not allowed.
  • The courses eligibility depends on the combination of degree, streams and GATE exam. 

CCMT 2020 Admission Procedure

CCMT admission process involves the following 5 stages:

  1. Online registration, choice filling, and locking of choices

  2. Online seat allotment

  3. Payment of seat acceptance fee

  4. Reporting at RC after paying the seat acceptance fee

  5. Payment of seat confirmation fee, and Reporting at the allotted Institute and pay the Institute balance fee 

CCMT Counselling

Instructions for CCMT New Candidate Registration

  1. Keep changing the Password at frequent intervals.
  2. Click the LOGOUT button and close all the windows related to the session, after finishing the work.
  3. Never share your password. CCMT/NIC doesn’t request for such information by email.

The process consists of 3 stages-

Online Registration, Choice Filling, and Locking

  • All eligible candidates should register themselves at the CCMT website by paying the requisite registration fee.
  • The registration fee of INR 2200/- for OC/OB and INR 1700/- for SC/ST/PwD, must be paid only via SBI MOPS.
  • The registration fee is not reusable and would not be in sync with any other fee.
  • Read thoroughly all the norms before clicking on the “I agree”checkboxx.
  • During the choice filling process, you can change, reorder, delete and add choices of courses till the last date.

Online Seat Allotment, Seat Acceptance fee deposit and Personal Reporting

  • Based on the order of choices, candidates will be offered seats on merit basis.
  • At this time, candidates have three options- Floating, Sliding, and Freezing.
  • In case of floating, the candidate can wait for higher preferred choice across the institutes.
  • Sliding option for considering allotment in higher preferred choices within the institute during further rounds of allotment.
  • The seat can be reserved if the candidate goes for Freezing option.
  • Seat Acceptance Fee of INR 20,000 has to be paid to confirm/book he allotted seat.
  • Report at the RC for document verification and submit a self-attested photocopy of documents and proof of the Seat Acceptance Fee payment.
  • Duly completing the process, candidates will be issued a Document Verification Certificate (DVC).

Candidates are required to exercise one of the following willingness when they report to the RC:

  • Floating: if they wish to be considered in the next round for all of their higher preferred choices.
  • Sliding: if they wish to be considered in the next round for their higher preferred choices only within the Institute allotted to them.
  • Freezing: if they are satisfied with the currently allotted seat and not interested in their higher preferred choices in the subsequent round.

Category of Fees charged

Registration FeeNon-refundable security fee charged for taking part in CCMT allotment process.
Seat Acceptance FeeCost Charged when the candidate agrees to take the seat fixed to him/her. This is a portion of College fee, which will be later regulated with the finally fixed Institute’s enrolment fee.
Seat Confirmation FeeFee charged when the candidate gives consent about her/his acceptance of the final seat allotment. This is also a portion of College fee, which will be later regulated with the finally fixed Institute’s enrolment fee.
NSR partaking chargePayment of taking part in NSR round which is later adjusted with the College fee for allotting seats.
NSR FeeIt includes both NSR Participation fee and NSR Registration fee.

Getting Admitted to ‘Allotted Institute’

  • Seat Confirmation Fee of INR 10,000 has to be paid.
  • At the time of physical reporting (after 3rd round of CCMT Counselling) in the respective institute, the balance fee has to be paid.
  • Post payment, download the ‘Provisional Seat Confirmation’ letter from before the last date.

Rules for Seat Allocation

Based on GATE Scores, the merit list for seat allocation will be prepared. There may be a case where 2 or more candidates score the same marks, in such case, the following will be considered:

  1. Candidates having GATE score in 2017 will be given preference over those in 2018, or 2020.
  2. Candidates having GATE score in 2018 will be given preference over those of 2020.
  3. If the year of GATE score is the same, then preference will be given to that candidate who has obtained higher GATE marks out of 100.
  4. In the unlikely event of their GATE marks out of 100 and the year of GATE score is the same, then preference will be based on the All India Rank (AIR).
  5. In the highly unlikely event of candidates having the same year, marks out of 100, and AIR, then Date of Birth will be considered. Elder candidate will be given preference.
  6. In the highly unlikely event of Date of Birth is same, then the rank will be decided on the basis of Random number generation.

Seat allotment is based on the Merit list and availability of seat as per filled Choices according to the Government of India (GoI) Reservation norms.

National Spot Round (NSR)

National Spot Round (NSR) will be conducted after Internal Sliding by CCMT and physical reporting at the allotted institute. Following candidates are eligible for NSR:

  1. All eligible candidates who withdrew admission or did not report to any RC in earlier rounds for document verification or allotted institute for final admission.
  2. Candidates whose allotted seat is canceled in earlier rounds due to non-fulfilments of any criteria but still fulfill eligibility requirement for admission.
  3. All eligible candidates who did not register for earlier three rounds (fresh candidates for NSR)
  4. Vacant seats for NSR will be displayed on the CCMT website as per the CCMT schedule.
  5. All eligible candidates for NSR will have to register and fill their choices ONLINE during the specified period.

Guidelines for e-challan Processing

All payment of the fee must be made as per schedule on the CCMT website. CCMT will not be responsible for any payments made after the due date. For making payment through e-Challan, the guidelines are as follows:

  • Take a print out of e-Challan form and make payment of the fee, in order to proceed with the GATE counselling process within the specified time duration
  • Candidates can pay the fee at any SBI branch.
  • E-Challan form can be generated by the system only after fee payment.
  • In case the candidate generates the e-Challan but fails to make a payment, their application process will be considered incomplete.

Important Instructions

  • In case of any dispute arises during the CCMT counselling process, the decision of Chairperson, CCMT 2020 will be final.
  • Carefully follow the admission procedure mentioned in CCMT 2020 brochureto avoid the hassle and last-minute rush.
  • Visit the official website of the Institute for the updated information on fee/commencement of classes.

Documents Required for CCMT Counselling

When the seat is allotted to the candidate for the first time in any of the rounds, the candidate has to pay the Seat Acceptance Fee. Candidate has to produce the following documents during reporting at any of the RC:

  1. Printout of the Registration form and the locked choices.
  2.  Provisional Seat Allotment letter downloaded from the CCMT website
  3. Self-attested copy of GATE scorecard (2017 or 2018 or 2020)
  4. Photo ID proof as per Govt. of India norms
  5. Original Birth certificate Class X (High School) Board Certificate as proof of date of birth
  6. Original Mark sheet of Class XII
  7. Original Grade/Mark sheets of the qualifying examination for all semesters
  8. Original Degree certificate, if completed
  9. Original Caste Certificate, if applicable.
  10. Original Certificate for Persons with Disabilities (PwD), if applicable.
  11. Proof of payment of Seat Acceptance fee.
  12. Three color passport size photographs
  13. Original Conduct Certificate from the Head of the institution last attended
  14. Original Transfer certificate from the Head of the institution last attended
Note: If the original certificates are not in English/Hindi version then translation of such certificates, duly certified by the Principal/Director of the graduating Institute, will be required to produce during the verification of documents. The certificate mentioned at Sr. No. xiii if not available at the time of reporting at RC, and then it is to be produced the same at the time of admission to the allotted Institutes.

GATE CCMT Counselling FAQs

Ques. What is the term NSR in CCMT counselling means?

Ans. NSR stands for National Spot Round counselling. Following candidates can apply for CCMT NSR:-

  • Candidates who haven’t apply for the first 3 rounds of CCMT
  • Candidates who have taken a withdrawal or have not reported to designated reported centers
  • Candidates whose allotted seats got canceled

Ques. I want to appear for National Spot Round Counselling. What is the Registration Fee?

Ans. The registration fee for participating in National Spot Round is 42,200 for OBC candidates and 11,700 for reserved categories.

Ques. I want to know that for how may institutes I can apply through CCMT

Ans. A candidate is free to apply for as many as institutes through CCMT. It can be NITs, IIITs, and other self-funded institutions.

Ques. I am in my last year of B.Tech. I have qualified for GATE 2020. However, my final result is still awaited. Can I register for CCMT?

Ans. Final year candidates can apply for CCMT. However, it is mandatory to produce their final mark sheet on or before September 15, 2020.

Ques. I have qualified GATE both in 2017 and 2018. I want to know which year I should apply.

Ans. For M.Tech admissions 2020, a valid GATE score card of 2017/2018/2020 is required. It is up to you to use GATE score card of any of the three years.

Ques. What is the procedure of Registration fee refund?

Ans. CCMT Counselling registration fee is non-refundable. Fee once paid will not be refunded.

Ques. I have forgotten the password I used while registering for the counselling? What should I do now?

Ans. candidate can change his/her password n number of times.

Ques. When I was paying the registration fee, my laptop got hanged. So reinitiated the payment. My payment got deducted twice. What should I do now?

Ans. In such case, send email to for refund. Refund will be done at the end of the counselling process. For any other general query, the email id is

Ques. Are part time or sponsored candidates allowed to appear for CCMT?

Ans. No, There is no provision for part time or sponsored candidates to apply for CCMT counselling. Only full-time degree candidates can apply for M.Tech admissions

Ques. I have prior job experience, How can I apply to PI of my choice. Is there any seat reservation for experienced candidates?

Ans. Only GATE qualified candidates can apply for CCMT. There is no such reservation for sponsored candidates or some one having prior job experience

Ques. I applied for GATE 2020, however, due to some reasons, I didn’t take the exam? Can I apply for CCMT Counselling 2020?

Ans. No only GATE Qualifiers are allowed to register for CCMT Counselling 2020. All the M.Tech admissions will be done on the basis of GATE Score only.

Ques. I have done my payment but didn’t receive any sms or acknowledgment. What should I do now?

Ans. On successful payment, applicans will be sent a confirmation on the registered mail id or contact number. In case you didn’t receive the acknowledgment you can call on the helpline number provided on the official website.

Ques. What is the registration fee for OBC candidates?

Ans. The registration fee for OBC candidates is 2200 and 1700 for SC/ST candidates. It is non-refundable.

Ques. How much seat acceptance fee I have to pay for the first round of CCMT?

Ans. All the candidates have to Rs 20,000 as seat acceptance fee. This fee will be adjusted in the admission fee for final seat allocation.

Ques. I have paid my seat confirmation fee but now I want to back out from it. Will I get my money back?

Ans. Yes, in such case the fee is refunded back with a deduction of Rs 1000/- towards CCMT Headquarters.

Ques. I belong to SC category but I took the GATE exam from the open category. Can I now apply for counselling from my actual category?

Ans. Yes, you can do so. Make sure you enter your correct category while filling up the counselling registration form. Also, you may be asked to show your caste certificate at the reporting center. Make sure to carry it along with other documents.

Ques. As we can apply for multiple institutes. Do we need to fill a separate application form for all the institutes?

Ans. No, a single application form is to be submitted for all the participating institutes. Candidates will be allocated an Institute as per their GATE rank and preferred the choice of stream.

Ques. Can I get the data of a list of available seats in an institute before the last round of counselling?

Ans. No, all the institutes will publish the available vacancies from every stream only after the third round is over.

Ques. Can I get my seat transferred to an Institute near to my home?

Ans. No inter-institute transfer is not allowed. You will only be allocated seats in all the 3 rounds as per the merit, stream preference and vacancies available.

Ques. While applying I am just getting 2 programs to choose from? Please explain why?

Ans. The number of programs offered is based upon his/her eligibility criteria based upon the qualifying degree or streams.
