NATIONAL LEVEL ONLINE TEST
Every year the authorities release the list of GATE toppers soon after the declaration of result. In 2020, there were a total of 29 toppers from different subjects.Out of 29 toppers, the topper of Metallurgical Engineering Jaya Gupta scored 83 marks. Priya Rathore topped in Textile Engineering & Fibre Science with 89.33 marks. Two toppers of Civil Engineering Ajay Singhal and Sumit Dewada scored 90.77 marks out of 100. Check GATE Cut off
Last year i.e. in 2020 8,59,048 candidates had registered for the examination out of which 79.73% i.e. 6,84,903 candidates had appeared for the exam at 566 centers across 199 cities. Only 18.8% of the candidates had qualified the examination. Hitesh Poply has bagged AIR-1 in Computer Science. Out of 100 marks, he scored 91. Hitesh started his preparation when he was in the 5th semester of B.Tech. From 5th to 8th semester he prepared for GATE 2020 while attending the college. Hitesh is a B.Tech graduate and pursued engineering from the University School of Information and Communication Technology (USICT). Hitesh had not taken any coaching. He managed to prepare on his own for GATE. Besides his college, he took out 6-8 hours daily for GATE 2020 preparation. Hitesh’s cleared the exam in his first attempt. His determination and focus is an example for all.
GATE 2020 Civil Engineering topper, Ajay Singhal, completed his B.Tech in 2018 from IIT Roorkee and aims to enter a PSU. Ajay also answered the examination in 2019 and received a good score but appeared again this year and shone as the topper of GATE 2020. “I have always focused on learning in a structured way, periodically reviewing topics and taking the mock tests to keep testing myself,” Ajay said. He said he also received assistance from a coaching institute that helped with the study content, resolving my doubts and the test sequence. His parents, friends and seniors gave him the much-needed boost and inspiration that helped him become the topper of GATE 2020.
In GATE 2020, the electrical engineering topper, Abhash Rai, is presently pursuing NIT Patna's B.Tech course and plans to join a PSU. “I attribute my achievement to my parents who have helped me through the toughest times of my life, and who have made me the topper of GATE 2020. I always concentrated on strategic study and revising subjects,” Abhash said. He also received assistance from a coaching institute that helped with the study content, solved my queries and the test series.

Such powerful focus is the attribute of the Begusarai boy, Gaurav Kumar, who went on to be the GATE 2020 topper with AIR 1 in Petroleum Engineering. He aims for recruitment at a PSU called ONGC. This brilliant mind reached the top tier this year with all the personal effort, coaching and numerous books put together in some months, following an ineffective attempt (for ONGC) in the previous year. He insists that the same practice plan can not work for everyone. This is why he recommends that each person must take a few days to come up with a self-made plan that can be diligently followed.
Jabalpur's bright brain, Piyush Tiwari, believes in numerous preparation elements which include web content, numerous books, online coaching, and advice from seniors. Having tried two times with 400 + ranks, he finally landed on AIR 17 in GATE 2020. Piyush recognized the nervousness of the examination that helped him to practice efficiently. This can also benefit potential aspirants.
GATE 2020 Mechanical Engineering topper Ashutosh Rai completed in 2019 his B.Tech from Sri Ramswaroop Professional Colleges Group Lucknow. He aims to join a PSU. Ashutosh already appeared for the test in 2019 and received a respectable score but appeared again this year and succeeded as the topper of GATE 2020. "I have always focused on learning in a scheduled way, constantly revising topics and trying not to be nervous or stressed out," Ashutosh said.

Shashank Mangal, the GATE 2019 topper of Instrumentation Engineering, said that he had the goal of joining IES and make engineering more advantageous to mankind. Currently, he is pursuing final year B. Tech in Electronics Engineering at IIT Dhanbad. He always had a dream of clearing a national level entrance test. He made this dream a reality by attaining 989/1000 marks in GATE for Instrumentation Engineering. He reveals that he began preparation for the exam one year before. He attempted numerous mock tests and took several online test series to reach his dream.

After attempting GATE in Electrical Engineering for the second time, Ankit Goyal shone with AIR 1. His normalized score was 94/100 which included 15/15 in General Aptitude and 79/85 in Technical Subjects. Prashant Gupta, a farmer’s son, is another student who aced GATE Chemistry in 2018 by attaining AIR 1. He obtained 76.1/100 and said that he actually expected to be ranked within AIR 10. He had not the smallest idea that he would be the topper in his stream. Now, he aspires to author a book on how to crack GATE.

Ques: How can I download my GATE scorecard?
A: You can download your GATE scorecard using GOAPS in the month of March. To do so, you will be required to enter your enrollment ID or email address, GOAPS password, and captcha. It is only if your details are provided accurately that you will be able to download the scorecard.
