    It could come as a surprise to you that some of India's best engineering colleges offer M.Tech programs with no GATE score requirement. There is a list of IITs, NITs, and other central and state universities that invite M.Tech admissions either through sponsored seats or with focus on their own M.Tech entrance test.

    Funded seats at IISs, IITs, and NITs

    IISc, IITs, and NITs offer regular M.Tech seats to candidates whose employers have funded the seats. These applicants do not need to turn up for admission to M.Tech programs by giving the GATE entrance test.

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Candidates must have completed either B.Tech or B.E. The requisite qualifying marks vary from institution to institution.
    • Candidates who apply for M.Tech through funded seats must have been employed for more than two years.
    • Candidates must have been granted a study leave of 2 years by their employers.
    • The employer has to bear the responsibility of providing financial assistance to the applicant over the course of 2 years.
    • Some of the IITs and NITs may also conduct their own written M.Tech admission test.

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Candidates applying for M.Tech must have passed the appropriate stream through B.Tech.
    • Candidates must have any of the following degrees as per their course - B.E, B.Tech (any branch such as CSE, ECE, EE, Civil, or Biotechnology), Master of Science, Mathematics, Informatics, Computers, or MCA programmes.

    IIIT Delhi

    Entrance Exam - IIIT Delhi M. Tech Entrance Exam

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Candidates that have B.Tech/ B.E in CS, IT, Maths and Computing, or B.Tech/B.E in any other discipline.
    • Candidates should have done at least one computer programming program and a minimum of two mathematics programs.
    • In B.Tech/B.E., they must have a CGPA of at least 6.5 out of 10 or 65 percent. In all prior degrees, they must have 60 percent including 10+2.

    IIIT Bhubaneswar

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Candidates are expected to have either completed B.Tech, BE, MCA, B.Sc. Computer Science, M.Sc. Electronics, M.Sc. Mathematics, M.Sc. Statistics or M.Sc. Physics from a well-established educational institution.

    Andhra Pradesh M. Tech Admissions

    Entrance Exam - AP PGECET

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Candidates should be Indian nationals.
    • Candidates should be a permanent Andhra Pradesh or Telangana resident. They should be able to prove their domicile with relevant papers.
    • The candidates' lower age limit is 21 years.
    • Candidates should have graduated from an AICTE/UGC approved institution recognized by the Government of Andhra Pradesh or any equivalent board in the related field with at least 50 percent marks for the general category and 45 percent for reserved category candidates.
    • Final year applicants of B. Tech or its equivalent or B. Pharm will be eligible for admission to the concerned M.E./M.Tech./M.Pharmacy courses.

    Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU)

    Entrance Exam - IPU CET

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Candidates must have earned their university degree from a recognized institution.
    • The permissible age limit is 35 years.
    • Candidates must have B.E/B.Tech marks of at least 60 percent in the concerned field.

    VIT University

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Candidate must be an Indian citizen and his/her Bachelor 's degree should have been completed in India.
    • NRI/Foreign applicants can also apply but they will be expected to fill out the separate application form.
    • Candidates from an accredited university/institute must have passed their B.Tech/B.E degree.
    • Candidates should have scored at least 60 percent marks or equivalent grades in their qualifying examination.

    SRM University

    Eligibility Criteria

    • Candidates must have a B.E, B.Tech, MCA, M.Sc. degree or equivalent in the relevant discipline with at least 60 percent marks in aggregate (or 6.5 CGPA).

    Karnataka M. Tech Admissions

    There are various central and state universities accepting students on the basis of GATE and even their own separate entrance exams. You will observe that some of the central universities, as well as the state, reserve some M.Tech seats for admission through GATE, and the remaining seats are filled based on their own M.Tech entrance exams.

    Ans. Yes, you can definitely do M. Tech without GATE. Several colleges offer M. Tech courses without a GATE score requirement. They conduct their own separate entrance examinations for admission. These include -
